Saints running back Reggie Bush said he nearly marked Florida quarterback Tim Tebow No. 1 on his Heisman Trophy ballot. But the Saints running back had to stick with his own kind.
The 2005 Heisman winner voted Arkansas running back Darren McFadden first, Tebow second and Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan third.
Bush voted McFadden at No. 2 last season with his top vote going to former Ohio State quarterback Troy Smith.
No change at strong safety
Saints coach Sean Payton declared Roman Harper as the team’s starting strong safety going into the Atlanta game. The Saints coach said backup Kevin Kaesviharn may see an increase in playing time depending on how practice goes the rest of the week.
The Saints coach pulled Harper during last week’s loss to Tampa Bay after blowing a pass coverage on Joey Galloway and missing a tackle on an Earnest Graham touchdown run.
Injuries
Running back Pierre Thomas missed Wednesday’s practice with a bruised kidney. He’s the only Saints player to miss any part of practice. Cornerback Mike McKenzie fully returned to practice despite coughing up blood during the loss to the Buccaneers.
