Grant takes part in Wednesday OTA; will turn himself in Thursday

New Orleans Saints defensive end Charles Grant attended the team offseason training activity session this morning despite being charged with involuntary manslaughter on Tuesday.

Grant will travel to Georgia tonight where he is expected to turn himself into authorities on Thursday. He is also expected to plead not guilty. Saints coach Sean Payton said Grant will be back with the team by Friday night.

“Obviously it’s something we take very seriously and certainly our condolences go out to the family,” Payton said. “What’s most important is the justice system taking its process. It’s something that the league will handle and certainly the state of Georgia will handle.”

The Saints were also missing their other starting defensive end as Will Smith has yet to attend any of the team’s optional offseason programs in response to not yet receiving a new contract.
