- The Saints went full contact for one of the few times during training camp Sunday morning. The first practice was supposed to be a walkthrough, but Payton “livened it up” in the a.m. session and gave the team the afternoon off.
Today’s two-a-day practices will be the last at Millsaps College this year. The team will be off Tuesday and practice twice with the Houston Texans in Metairie on Wednesday and Thursday leading up to the second preseason game Saturday in the Louisiana Superdome.
- Tight end Jeremy Shockey (leg), defensive end Bobby McCray (ankle), defensive tackle Brain Young (knee), wide receiver Adrian Arrington (toe) and guard Andy Alleman (hip) didn’t practice Sunday.
Payton said Arrington will miss at least a week of practice with a turf toe. Payton expects Young, Shockey and McCray to return for today’s practices.
Running back Reggie Bush returned to practice after missing Saturday afternoon’s practice with a sore left knee.
- The Saints brought back long snapper Ryan Senser on Sunday. They moved defensive tackle James Reed to injured reserve after tearing his Achilles’ tendon on Saturday.
