Bush out vs. Chiefs; Brian Young's season might be over

Despite the optimism by New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton expressed throughout the week, running back Reggie Bush missed Friday’s practice and won’t play in Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Bush practiced on a limited basis Wednesday while wearing a bulky knee brace, but missed the last two days as he attempts a return for a torn medial meniscus in his left knee.

“I think we set a goal and the rehab has gone well,” Payton said. “But especially for his position, I think it’s not ready and obviously we are going to be smart about when we think (he’s ready). He’ll be 100 percent when we put him back on the field. It’s close, but it wasn’t ready.”

Defensive tackle Brian Young’s arthritic left knee swelled up again forcing him to miss Friday’s practice and Payton said the recurring injury could be serious enough to end Young’s season.

Fullback Mike Karney (knee), cornerback Aaron Glenn (ankle), center Jonathan Goodwin (knee) didn’t practice all week and are listed as out on the injury report.

Wide receiver Marques Colston (knee) and tackle Jon Stinchcomb (calf) were limited in Friday’s practice and are probable on the injury report. Running back Aaron Stecker (hamstring) and kicker Garrett Hartley (back) practiced fully and are probable for Sunday’s game.
